…
Come on, people.
Really?
Are you really that retarded?
Did you even watch and pay attention to the film?
If you did see it, did you see it just to criticize it, or did you see it to learn and enjoy or even just watch it?
If you really don’t like it, can you not give me a reasonable, sane explanation as to why?
Honestly, in my opinion, the people that continue to tell me that Avatar “sucked” are complete morons.
Most of those people can’t give me a logical reason as to why they think it was horrible.
Some of those people can’t give me a reason at all, other than, “It just did.”
That is rather pathetic.
“Why don’t you explain why the movie was so great, then, Shelby, if you’re such an artsy-fartsy little person?”
Here’s the fucking deal:
Avatar was highly original.
It was creative.
It wasn’t the same old shit I’ve seen in movies the last five/ten years: sex, shoot your guns at each other because you’re spies/secret agents, bitch-don’t-steal-my-man, based-off-a-historic-moment-but-altered-five-hundred-different-ways, and even shiny vampires that can’t fuck their girlfriends without causing some sort of emotional or physical pain.
Hell, it might have even been a mix of some of the old shit and tons of new, innovative, awesome shit.
The art; the designs of the characters, the machinery, and the world of Pandora itself; and the special effects were stunning.
Jake, Neytiri, Mo’at, Grace—all the characters were different in their own way, and they were lovable, even the antagonists.
Pandora was a colorful world not just visually but also audibly: The forest was not just a bland shade of green, but multiple, exotic colors, and the score and sound effects fit perfectly to describe musically Pandora and the actions and emotions of its inhabitants.
The general concept itself, of creating genetically engineered avatars that you can operate with your brain and the aid of a machine in order to roam Pandora without a stupid oxygen mask, so that you can explore that entirely new world, is a fucking fantastic, new idea, and it was wonderful enough to make me wish that I had an avatar of my own.
The film was breathtaking. It was beautiful. There were several occasions that I nearly cried, whether it was because a character was lost or because what I saw was just unspeakably amazing. It was able to keep all my attention, to the point where I actually believed it was real. When the movie ended, I was a bit sad to find myself in a world that is disappointing compared to Pandora.
I was actually jealous when I saw the ending. I kept waiting for it to “suck,” as I’d heard it did before I ever went to see the film, and it didn’t. The ending was just as neat as everything that occurred before it.
Avatar was something new and different.
It was unique.
It is still unique.
It is a brilliant movie, and I don’t understand at all why the most random individuals hate it so much.
It had to have been a great movie, because if it wasn’t it wouldn’t have already gotten so many awards and so many nominations for more.
It even did better than the creators thought it would in the box office.
Honestly, it’s my new favorite movie ever, and I love it to death.
So.
Tell me now, if you even can, why the movie “sucks.”
[By the way, I just downloaded the soundtrack. It’s still fucking awesome.]It was okay. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it.
The plot wasn’t very original (go and harvest the shit out of a natives homeland and try to drive them out; I mean, hell, the Americans did it to the Natives here) , but I’ll admit that the characters and environments were. Kind of a Lost Planet kind of feel to the monsters which was cool.
I’ll agree with the fact that the music and graphics were amazing.
However, the ending ruined it for me.
I could never love a movie with such a disney-esque happy ending.
The end.
See, now, at least you gave me good reasons as to why you… semi-disliked/semi-liked it.
Nobody else could.
I honestly loved that the ending was happy, considering all the negative crap going around lately. It made me smile. C:
